December Disaster Recovery & Resiliency Update

FEMA update: Many of our towns, villages and municipalities are currently undergoing their FEMA Recovery Scoping Meetings to assess their damage inventories and put these into specific projects under FEMA categories. This is the next step in the long process to getting reimbursements from FEMA through the NC Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) and emergency management division (NCEM). 90 days will be given to get all of the projects into the grants portal system for each local government entity. Then the work scopes written for each project with the accompanying data and documentation begins.
FRC update: Chimney Rock Village residents and business owners get the chance to meet every couple of weeks to discuss some points of Disaster Psychological First Aid in a supportive session led by Penny Martinez. They are also given up-to-date information received from FEMA and NCEM to assist with their individual planning-both short term and long term, and to receive information on resources as well as get some of their questions answered.
